Swoldier_X out here doing the Egyptian Gods’ work with their Duel Links Anime-OST replacement mods; check out the Antinomy Theme/Clear Mind use near the end! I also love that they snuck in the unreleased “First Move” theme from GX for O’Brien.
There’s a link in the Description for you to apply the mod to your Duel Links on PC, and I’m not sure if it’s cumulative with their other music mods, but if not, the ones he did for 5D’s and GX World are there, too. Also recommend their mods using the OCG Card Artwork!
Well, the “First Move” theme I mentioned isn’t specific to O’Brien–it’d been used since about episode 27 of GX going into the Seven Stars arc–but it does happen to work well for him since I remember it being used well in his duel with Judai, so maybe that was the thinking. A shame it (and so many others) went unreleased tho, it is a jam.
Happy with how this came out! After that bit of translation help the other night, I managed to transcribe and translate the entire smear piece Angela wrote about Yusei that Rally and co (and eventually Carly) were looking at, since I might be a bit too much of a perfectionist for a side project, haha. But I figured I translated that Bommer email back in 21 so if I can, why not? 🤷🏽♂️ Had to take a few liberties in spots so I could fill in the space nicely, and tried to get my best “journalist” voice on as I did, lol. Transcribed text and my original translation below the cut, if you’re curious.
I did do what I could to stitch this up together nicely, though I gave the Duel Stadium photo and the second headline next to it a slight rotation since it being off to the side a bit bugged me as I added the text; shouldn’t be much of an issue once I work it into the footage, since I’ll be masking in the original shot as the photo scrolls up. That’s why I didn’t try to unblur the TV Domino/etc text at the bottom, since I’ll be masking in the original screen there above it.
Now comes the fun part–since the original shot zooms out while Rally scrolls through the article, I’m thinking it might just be a matter of zooming out the article and moving it with each keyframe with the monitor masked over it, but I’ll see what I can play with. 🤔
Bit of an update, but I spent some tonight after some Zooms (and getting GX 58′s script done this weekend [have one last quick quality-of-life animation fix to do there before getting onto 59]) getting started on working this translated article into the footage in Sony Vegas; after about 2 hours listening to a podcast or two, I’ve gotten 38 of 83 frames or so done!
Basically started by first zooming in at the top where it starts and zooming it out into position at the end of the shot, then going every few keyframes re-positioning the article and zooming it out gradually accordingly; not as hard as I thought it’d be to work it in, lol. Now, what I’m doing is working off of a duplicate video track for the original shot and masking in the monitor’s sides and the rest of the shot over the article itself, which shouldn’t take too long over the next few days. Once I do that, I might brighten/tint the article in a few frames for the blue light effect that was originally there, and I’ll also do something about the jitteryness I see in the one frame here and make sure it’s smooth throughout.

This community never deserved you or your amazing hard work, I hope you know that.
I saw this and wanted to reply, but kinda didn’t know what to say–and lol it’s been 7 days already, welp
But thanks, reading this really brought a smile on. 🙂 Happy that you and many others are enjoying the fruits of that hard labor of love! And it’s nice to help the fandom out with some trivia like this article, too–the fact that even Japanese fans haven’t transcribed it blew me away, since they’re usually on top of that stuff haha.

@baddyzarc does panshots, maybe you could work together!
Heya, appreciate the thought! But no worries, I’ve already taken care of the stitching-together and just have video-editing to do, which I’m okay with, lol.
What is UP y’all. I’m back with a cover of an anime OP for the first time in five million years. 👏👏👏 (well technically it hasn’t been a year since I did one, but that one got zero notes, so in social media terms, I haven’t done one in a while 😂😂😂)
The reason for this cover is two-fold: 1) we just celebrated VRAINS being around for 2 years and honestly, with all the issues it had production-wise, that’s awesome + 2) some folks really thought this song wasn’t good, so I covered the song to prove them wrong. IT’S SO MUCH FUN TO SING OK.
(editing it’s a different story tho….. rip. also I couldn’t find an instrumental for the song, so my man TOMMY’s singing in the back LMAO)
But anyway, if you listen to this, thank u so much and I hope u enjoyed listening to it as much as I did singing it. 🙏 (especially this ~one~ part. you’ll know what I mean if u listen)
I mean I could’ve, but also, it was a spur of the moment decision on a Friday night to record this SO….. (but thank u tho ‘cause that means I get to re-edit this now lmao)
I’m well aware it’s off in a few spots adslfjlkasjf. After the first recording, I noticed I was…. singing faster than the actual OP which didn’t make sense b/c I was playing the actual OP at the same time. And then, it became a “So is Tommy singer faster than I am or am I singing faster than Tommy” recording/editing game.
Ten hecking recordings later, I just. Gave up. Like I made sure the off-syncness wasn’t blatant obviously, but I figured “what the hell I’m just doing this for fun and not getting monetary profit, so out to the world it goes.”
so yeah. 😂😂😂
I know that feel 😂
😂 Have been wanting to record a few covers myself lately but way too much on my plate already lmao (And you’re welcome!)
And ooh, that makes sense! Didn’t mean any harsh critiques by it (hence the “few spots” lol) since yeah, spur of the moment live your best life, just picked up on it 😅
I think it might be 天晴, i guess a pun on his name and the sky/weather?
clear skies, is how i’d translate it
Thank you! I was so sure that bottom radical had to be 円; didn’t look like there was a line going across to make it 月, haha.
And I actually found that as a word in the dictionary I often use that’d mean “splendid/well done!”; since this shot has Fubuki (Hawaiian shirt) celebrating Manjoume getting a “Yes” to a thing, that meaning seems to make the most sense here, lol. Thanks so much for *clearing* that up for me! :D
Is it supposed to only be available in 240p? The videos on cloudy.ec were 640x480
Hmm, I noticed that too when I tested the link, but I want to say it’s a processing thing? I can’t see anything in their Help page talking about it. I’ll check in tomorrow and see if hopefully we get a 480p going, but we’ll see. If it does stick to 240p, this’ll hopefully just be temporary while Cloudy gets it together.
I think it reads better with the commas, but I’d make the comma after his name red?
Wow, equal thoughts so far, haha. Thanks!
So… I’m agreeing with seungmi-jongiie and fyuriosa; I do think posters like this wouldn’t have commas, and leaning more on that side, but agreeing with shadowskiel and aneroticporkcutletbowl (EDIT: and I didn’t realize you’d changed your URL, Kay, haha) because grammar (though I just had his name in red to match the original, with the comma in the dark purple).
Hmm… yeah, I think I’ll go without the commas, since I do think it reads better. Now, I just need to figure out how to center those text lines relative to the box they’re in…
this kind of thing is so much easier in Photoshop, since you can lower the opacity of each frame to make it easier to line up with the frame below it
I dunno why I didn’t think of that, haha. It’s also much easier when I can keep zooming in and out and can still edit the frame without the rest of it being ruined; thank you, layers. Except, now I’m running into the problem where they’d line up perfectly if I was able to move it by half a pixel. D:
(Though I think it’s partly the encoding artifacts that are smudging them up every few frames; I screencap’d every 10 frames, so maybe four might work….)
