Carly’s arc in 5Ds was so emotional for me. I broke down crying when she was sobbing on the roof unable to control herself when she found out she basically just died. She was bullied and just wanted to be a great reporter, not exactly lofty goals. Then she gets mixed up in the signer business and she ends up being murdered and reanimated to take revenge on someone she loved. It was very emotion and one of the few times Ive cried across any of the series

People just reminded me of something.
People are like “The Synchro Arc was useless, just fanservice and endless duels”.
Well let’s recap.
The Lancers learned how to work dependently and independently.
Yuya became King a second time (I’m counting Strong Ishijima as Standard King because no one considers Reiji as King in Standard)
Yuya Synchronized with Yugo a few times.
All the Yuus have met eachother.
Serena became totally loyal to the Lancers.
Dennis turned on the Lancers.
Shun finally lost.
Shun finally made a friend.
Shun finally respects his comrades.
Yuzu gets kidnapped twice.
Yugo came close to achieving hisdream, winning the Friendship Cup.
Sergey messed people up and then died.
All the government shenanigans.
Yuya was tortured.
Prison-Break.
Yuri and Yugo fought eachother multiple times.
The four Yuu’s synchronized together twice.
Reira’s past was revealed, and who he is and why he is the way he is.
Sora became a good guy again.
Yuri got some ACTUAL screen time, albeit not as much as Yugo.
Serena got drugged and sent back to Fusion.
Roger tried to take control of the city, failed, then tried to destroy it (trap it in the void between dimensions), then got sucked in himself.
The Lancers gained Crow and Jack to their list of members.
Yuya learned how to syncho summon.
Yuya gained confidence. Real, non-luck-based confidence. He only has one more teenage-crisis after that to-date (and that was about being overconfident)
You can really go on from here. Yeah, they didn’t fight Academia much, and yeah, a lot of the duels were pretty much un-plot related. But a lot, and I mean a LOT of development happened. I think the Synchro Arc was great.
