Just finished episode 60, and man, I wish we had got a few episodes of Asuka, Kenzan, Misawa and Sho dueling to protect the Red Dorm while Judai was out of sorts. I also just realized that Brown Warrior is meant to be the uncursed form of Panther Warrior, isn't it? And I'll never be over Ayukawa-sensei stanning Fubuki. XD (honestly? Same, lol)
Yeah, that could’ve played out interestingly, but as Napoleon’s said about him, Chronos is a bit too lax about trying to take the Red dorm down–and he’ll abandon the plan soon, too, since we know how much he actually likes his students, lol. I guess Napoleon getting an army together (heh) to try and do it despite Chronos dropping the plan maybe could’ve led to that happening, but I don’t know who would’ve joined him. 😅
And I didn’t think about it but I guess that makes sense; Fubuki describes Panther Warrior’s curse (sacrificing a Monster to attack) as the necessary shadow to give up in exchange for the spotlight, and Brown Warrior boosting other Monsters’ ATK is sorta the opposite by elevating them. 🤔

I noticed that too, and I just noticed they uploaded GX OP1 textless this morning, too. Possible, since they’re almost done with the DM subs, right? Seems odd of them to be uploading the textless videos, but hey, I guess it’s something lol. Be nice if they uploaded some of those alternate versions we never got textless 🤔

[EDIT: Been informed by @authoratmidnight and @chancellorxofxtrash that the comment thing is likely due to YouTube being dumb with its “for kids” setting due to COPPA. Come to think of it, I think I do remember noticing comments first being turned off on their videos around the time that happened…]

Have you ever considered subbing your favorite episode or duel from each Yugioh series? It would be neat to get a taste of what your subbing style for each series would be like!
A Duel Selection but for my subbing, eh? …you’re actually kinda tempting me there, haha. And I have already put in some work for ARC-V…
I think it’d be an interesting idea, though! Just need to get a few things off my plate first 😅

Does the Japanese internet have anything on Kanako Irie? All I've ever been able to find on English sites is that her only other role was Yumi on Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan. I always found it sad such a talented seiyuu has so few roles, so I was wondering if Japanese sites had anymore information on her. (like if she was in other things too or if a reason was ever given for why she vanished off the map)
Hmm, well, going off her JP Wikipedia page, it looks like her only role post-Camula/Johan was in some show called Monsuno in 2013; she’d taken a hiatus after GX before taking that role. Funny enough, she was on a voice-over hiatus from ‘01-’05 before coming on for Camula; her last role had been on an episode of Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo. The hiatuses seem to have been for her to focus on her stage career. It would be neat if she came back in VRAINS or had some more roles in other shows, considering how good she is (and hey, she did come back for Johan, thankfully)

I remember you edited a clip of Ed in the GX dub to have the Japanese music playing over it. Could you do something like that for Arc V? I think everyone on NAC would appreciate it, especially for 34 if applicable. xD
Haha, I’ve been thinking about it since day 1! XD
Just a matter of remembering how I did it. I know I used a plugin in Cool Edit Pro but with my laptop’s new HDD and all, I’d probably have to search for it if I don’t already have it in my old downloads, and figure out the right tweaks (it’d be much easier if the dub ended up getting a 5.1 DVD release, but considering 4K’s still struggling with a TV deal…). I’m also hoping the quality on the dub episode’s good enough to work with; otherwise, odds are I’d have to wait for the HQ Canada rips, lol.

Question! How much would you charge for an hour and 20 minute drama cd translation? Most of the dialogue is from the manga so you could translate from scans, but there is a small chunk of content that you'd need to translate by ear. ^^;

Well, my listening’s generally pretty good; I’d probably have to just repeat the audio a few times to catch everything. And maybe once I pick up a full sentence or two, I’ll Google it to find someone transcribed everything haha.
Price-wise, hmm… I was already unsure of how to go about charging for my translations lol. I didn’t want to charge too much, but I like to think I do a great job at it… I really was hoping someone would chime in with ideas when I posted that help-me-out! post haha. I was thinking maybe 30-50 cents/sentence, but then I’d need to know how many lines are in it so I knew it wouldn’t be that much…
I’ll post this reply in case anyone has a good idea, or knows anyone who translated something that long for commissions. I’d like to try it, I just want to make sure I give you a good price!

Since he says that “butt out” line before, I’m thinking, “See, shush, set, so shoo!” or something lol. Looking at this alliteration dictionary to think of something, but I might just leave worrying about it for once I’m done with the rest haha.

I don’t mind dub fans despite preferring the sub, but some are so touchy. Had a similar thing happen here with me too. You did the right thing deciding to drop it.lol it’s not even a dub/sub thing, they’re literally upset because we posted an answer to a question at the same time, and though mine has more content than theirs by mentioning what was cut from the Japanese version (AND MAKING A NEW COMMENT ON THE EPISODE), they still want it deleted because they think I’m trying to put theirs to shame. And even though I was politely saying “Hey, my post has new content yours doesn’t, it’s entirely on topic, drop it,” now I get a PM titled “i fucking hate you” which is really the classiest thing.

One thing I'm curious about with GX season 4 subs: Since the DM and 5D's subs use Shadow Game rather than Game of Darkness, does that mean we'll get World of Shadows/Shadow World or Shadow Realm? I'm hoping the former.
Well, thing is, the term’s ダークネスの世界, which could be World of Darkness–except here, it’s referencing Old Sir Goatheadeth, as opposed to 闇の世界, which would be “World of [actual] Darkness”, “[actual] darkness” being the darkness invoked in a Game/Duel of Darkness. I translated it as Darkness’s World to avoid that issue (similarly, the Italian dub used “il Mundo di Nightshroud”/”World of Nightshroud”), and I’d assume (or hope) they go the same way with it; they can’t go with “Shadow” since Goatheadeth doesn’t go by “Shadow,” or else we’d have a bunch of hedgegoat jokes, lol.

HELL HAS FROZEN OVER. We have official subs for Yugioh DM again at long last! They're up to episode 5 at the moment.
Don’t know if this is a glitch in the system or whatever, but apparently the first five episodes of DM are up on Crunchyroll, subbed and all. I didn’t see any announcements on this, do you know anything?
Definitely a welcome surprise, on top of the GX news! I didn’t see anything on it either; I was at the gym when news broke haha. Guess they finally broke through those legal issues with Kazama. I saw some of episode 1 last night, and the subs were decent, still missing a word or two occasionally. Also, 5000 years should’ve been 3000.

You should get paid for all that hard work! I mean even translating the credits on the OP/EN!? :O I can respect if you decide to put it on the backburner. I wonder what this other project you want to do is…? :DHonestly, if I was hit up about offering my translations to the powers that be and being paid for them, I’d be into it. Maybe I should’ve gone through with looking if I could work with 4Kids way back haha.
(Though speaking of which, I’m also thinking of taking comissions for translations. Since I have loans and I’d like to work towards moving out. Just need to figure out some good rates haha.)
But like I said, I’ll most likely keep at it just to keep working on updating my older translations. But I’ll see if that other project doesn’t swing its way ahead of that. :) I also do want to keep my 5D’s!DBZKai thing going, and I should get back to readding my 5D’s comparisons to my site. Time’ll tell, lol.

Have you heard the news yet? Crunchyroll decided to steal your job, err, start offering official GX subs themselves starting August 1st. :O I'm really excited and plan to watch them, but I must admit I imagine I'll still be partial to your subs and still watch them too. :P
If this was a paying job, I’d actually be complaining. XD
That was surprising news, though! I do plan on checking them out to see how their translations stack up to mine, but depending on how good they are, I may or may not put my work on the backburner. Then again, I would like to keep finalizing my translations for the sake of completeness, so I may still keep going anyway. I think Season 3 and 4′s my best work, so I’d like to see their take on it.
Though, I believe I may also be feeling a burn to unleash another project with the extra time…
