Just to give you guys an idea of what’s going on here, for the interested. Like I said before, the script’s all done, so it’s just knocking these out that’s left, lol. Should be all done by the weekend!
(The ones in italics are already done)
Getting In the Zones
I’m actually surprised I pulled this off haha. So the animators forgot to draw the rest of Taizan’s Disk in those frames, and I thought I’d try to fix that. In the first frame, the Disk was Judai’s and the “wing” part was from Kagurazaka’s–masked in from episode 18–while in the second frame, the Disk was from a later Judai shot, and the “wing” was from a Judai shot in 16. Then I just made a Drone proxy to put on his Disk along with a Drawler one I’d already made for a different edit, and bingo! Added the gif so you see how it’d look in action compared to the original.
One fix down, eight more to go!
how do you just forget most of a Duel Disk I don’t understand -
Your fix looks incredible, though! I would never have guessed you’d fixed up such a big mistake if I didn’t already know. Really, really nice work!
Pretty easily when you’ve got washboard abs to animate that somehow vanish at the end of the episode
Thanks! I was worried a bit since there are some spots in the stills where the masking wasn’t too perfect, but luckily it’s not too noticeable in motion, lol.

Getting In the Zones (WIP)
Just a look for you guys at how this edit’s starting off! I’m splicing in Judai’s Disk here from a shot in 18, edited to get rid of Burstlady’s card in that second zone in Photoshop and zoomed in to make it bigger (added some sharpening as a result), and then splicing in the “wing” part of Kagurazaka’s Disk from a different shot in 18 to detail that part of Taizan’s disk here. I’d worry about the shading (it’s from when Judai’s surrounded by the Sealing Swords of Light, and there’s no real light source here, except for the moon maybe), but it’s only three frames, so. *shrug* I’ll see about detailing his deck’s top card too.
The next frame might be a bit harder, since it’s a view from under the Disk. I have some shots in mind to help, but if anyone happens to have some good reference shots I could use, lemme know! Odds are I may just leave that one alone since the zones could easily be offscreen, though, lol.
Today in “How Did You Forget That?” and “Well, That Escalated Quickly”…
This is a really cool shot.
So, the script’s mostly good to go; I just have to adjust half the lines for a cut frame I realized led to an audio skip (in my whole video-splicing process, this happened before I did any), then go about encoding.
But before that, I just have one more fix to work on: in the shot where Kohara has King Goblin attack, they had Second Goblin where Giant Orc should’ve been on Ohara’s Disk.
So, I’d expect it all done this weekend!
wut do u mean i said it’d be ready early this week
Got a bit long, but basically, three GX 16 fixes->credits->script!, revisiting TFSP, and progress on that “Japanese OST? In my ARC-V dub?!” project!
ARC-V Title Card - Textless (WIP)
Just a sneak peek at something I’ve been slowly working on! I’ve come up with this using the title cards from DVD raws for episodes 1-4 and 13-48, splicing things into this frame as needed. I was worried I wouldn’t get the middle part well (it’s where all the one-line episode titles are, and unfortunately, ARC-V’s titles are all one-liners, save for a few early on…), but then I noticed episode 5 and 6 had just enough space in between the titles’ two lines to cover it! It’s not perfect, but once some text is laid on there, I’m sure no one’ll notice. :P
Just have to move the keyframes so I can get a frame with as little sparkles as possible, then it’s a matter of recreating the zoom-out, masking in the Pendulum, and going from there. More on this as it develops.
lol the animators forget about Ayanokouji’s polo’s DA logo as often as they forget Burstlady’s shoulder strap in this episode
Luckily, it just takes some masking + positioning work; all the other edits are finally in the raw, so once I fix these last scenes up, I can finally encode 15 haha
EDIT: I can finally move on! Uploading 15 now.
GX Finalized!15 Progress Report - Those Short-Shorts Tho
Phew, almost done with the script–just have the preview to do tomorrow. Once it’s done, I have a few more very minor fixes to work on, then I’ll be working @saveyuzu’s Burstlady touch-ups into the episode before I finally encode it. Will Friday be a good ETA? Stay tuned.
So most of my week was spent doing a bunch of card fixes in After Effects–mostly for Ayanokouji’s no-Level Mega Thunderball, along with Judai missing some cards and Ayanokouji not needing one). New territory, and as Halil in ARC-V would say, “It was quite educational!” I also did some more minor fixes, including a fix to Asuka’s perspectively perplexing perplocker. what do you mean that’s not a real word

(I kinda want to add lip-flaps to those girls in the front; they’re just sitting there staring at each other before they turn around o_O)
All that’s left is fixing Burstlady; the animators must have a grudge against her shoulder strap… But with @saveyuzu’s help, we’ll do her justice! While they go on and work their magic, I’ll go on and finally start editing the script. Stay tuned for some teasers!
Card editing in After Effects is so much fun guys :)
I have a newfound respect for the guys over at 4K who do all the card editing for the dubs
GX 15 WIP - Wait, we do what to win now?
So I’m working on blanking the hit counters that show up three times once Ayanokouji uses that Deuce card to make it so whoever hits the other’s monsters twice wins. The dub just shortened the boxes or moved the circles to the center to keep the names out, but I’ll be translating them, and here’s a peek!
I was wondering how to handle Ayanokouji, but turns out I have this font called Niagara Solid that has the letter spacing closer together, so I just had to scale it height-wise for the fit I wanted. why can’t you just go by “mitsuru” ayanokouji D:
