So I was just rewatching that episode in GX when Judai's hallucinating b/c his Fusion card got tainted and Johan shows up to save his ass, and I noticed a thing with the translations I wondered if you knew about. It's after Judai can see Johan again and they're about to leave; he says (in Jap) "Oretachi nara, kitto yareru," which the lovely person who subbed it translated as "We can do it... I know it." Not wrong at all, but Judai literally says, "If it's /us/, we can do it." Just FY bc cute.

lol But in all seriousness, yeah, I was totally aware of that being the original line (this is 172, for the curious), and I knew/know that would be the literal translation for it, but if you know my translation style (most of Season 1 and 2 don’t count here since I’ve yet to update them, but be it finalized!GX, song translations, etc), I’m not one to go totally literal and kinda-stilted with translations like that. So, in going for “We can do it… I know it,” aside from also wanting to time it with the shot-change, I wanted to get the same idea across while also wording it so it wasn’t too literal.
And hopefully, it still sounds as cute?

So, GX episode 14 is pretty much done at this point; I just wanted some help with one edit to fix an animation error, if anyone graphic-editing-savvy’s up to it?
The animators goofed with their consistency drawing Burstlady, and @se-to-oh did whip up a fix for the first frame it happens in.
The mission, should someone choose to accept it, would be to add the missing strap on her arm/shoulder in this and the other two frames (here), with her edit as a guide. Redrawing isn’t my resident editor’s forte, unfortunately, so I was hoping someone would be able to give it a shot? You’ll of course be thanked for it in the episode’s ending credits. :)

I wish I remembered how to edit the cards using After Effects like I did to fix that double-Mirror-Force error in episode 6 D:
Wanted to edit the Level-less Mega Thunderball in episode 15 and include it in 14′s preview for it, but Vegas wouldn’t let me skew it as well to fit where it originally was, so I used AE and I got it, but then I have the issue of trying to copy/paste the fix so it’s not there while the cards aren’t, so I went back to Vegas and just masked the Level from the card over the original shot. Which works, but then a few frames later when the cards are on the top of the frame, for some reason, the card/Level can’t make it that far up. ;_;

GX 13 - Update!
Sorry for the lack of updates, but I’ve finished editing the script! I’ll give it a quality watch tomorrow, then I just have to fix the “Super Animal Le[a]rning” goof. That should be the only fix…
Also, in the extended preview, Shou’s being a dork about New Year’s since it’s winter break lol. “There’s rice cakes, New Year’s food, karuta cards, and more!” I’ll have a Translation Note for karuta when I post the episode.

Just curious, I don’t suppose anyone’s seen individual renders of Dark Yugi, Kaiba, and Anubis (bonus if his Sphinxes are in as well) from this promo art for Pyramid of Light?
I wanted to recreate the TV ad for POL’s airing on Japanese TV as shown in GX 13′s TV rip, using footage from the HQ movie and all, to either add it to my DVDRip or have it up as an extra. But when the movie’s title comes up, it has Anubis, Kaiba, and Yugi zoom into the screen with their monsters, and then they all zoom out towards “us” individually, with Anubis being the oddball who moves down, lol.
So if anyone has/has seen these arts for them individually (again, bonus for his Sphinxes and BESD) or at least in good enough quality that they can just be cut out and can either point me toward them or send them my way, it’d be much appreciated! Or if anyone has/knows any other similar renders I could use, that could work too! I know I could just use that footage from the TV spot, but it’d really stick out quality-wise. Though, I probably will if no one’s seen these anywhere.

alright so what was the literal translation when Johan says "Judai's mine" in that one ep because I highly doubt it was LITERALLY that.
Don’t worry, it wasn’t literally that!
So, all he says is “juudai ni…”, and the key thing to sentences that trail off is picking up on the context to interpret where it might go. Here, Fujiwara got it into his head that he’ll be beating Judai, so all Johan has in mind is not wanting to lose–wanting to defeat Judai. I interpreted that sentence to be “juudai ni [katsu]”, or “I’ll beat Judai…” (picking up on particle use is also key; X ni verb->verbing on X for this example; ex: “ヨハンに聞く/yohan ni kiku”->”I’ll ask Johan”), and normally, I’d leave sentences trailed off in the subs, but for better readability given the shortness, I just used “Judai’s mine…”, which does imply the same thing.
While I could’ve used “I’ll beat…” instead to match the trail-off, I don’t like having too much audio/sub mismatch going on, so “Judai’s mine” fits the context, matches his line with the mention of Judai, and just looks better lol.

Well, tbh, I’d say the line’s meant more platonically, just O’Brien asking what Jim’d say there is between them (the line being “omae to juudai no aida ni nani ga aru to iinda?”). It could be anything from them being acquaintances to Jim’s idea of a “spiritual friend,” so I wouldn’t say he’s going for more than that, given the context of his flashbacks with Judai becoming friends with him and Karen so easily.
I mean, it could probably be interpreted like that, but yeah, the above’s the intended meaning I got from it lol.

Finally getting GX 12 all done!
I was going to try affixing subs to the Attribute kanji that show up for Misawa’s decks, but seeing as how he’s saying what they are anyway, I figured that’d be unneeded. I’ll post a translation note describing Chronos’s “Sashisuse!” line, as well as the “retsugoo sanbiki” thing behind the Manjoume Brothers that was a line of inspiration/their motto.
