Hehe, that was just me trying to give the last episode a twist! It’s still Psychic Lover singing “Precious Time, Glory Days”, but it’s from an updated version they did in 2009.  Thought it’d be nice to help give it a “last episode” feel, along with the clipshow I made at the end. :) If you ever feel like downloading the episodes over on NAC, I also made a version with the opening as it was originally, in case you didn’t like it!

I’m debating whether or not to translate the kanji or repeat what I did with the “touki” scroll in episode 9 and put the English text over the kanji, and whether it’s doable with just Aegisub or I could use some good Photoshop help… Hmm.  I’ll probably decide once I finish the rest of the episode (just starting the duel), but figured I’d throw this out there for now, lol.

I was wondering what was up with that line. Wow CR. Much help. So subbing pro./sarcasm Trying to think of 5 s cooking terms. Salt, sugar, spices, shortening, saute maybe?

Yeah, they probably didn’t consult a good enough dictionary to figure that out lol.  And I really just need four words to lead into “shoo!” at the end.  Since he says that “butt out” line before, I’m thinking, “See, shush, set, so shoo!” or something lol.  Looking at this alliteration dictionary to think of something, but I might just leave worrying about it for once I’m done with the rest haha.

So in episode 12, as Chronos starts to proposition Misawa about facing Misawa, he shoos Judai and Shou away.  “This does not concern the two of you!” He then says, “ しっしっしっ！さしすせし～～～っ！”/”shi shi shi! sashisuseshi!”, “shi” = “shoo” and “sashisuse” referencing on “sashisuseso”, which according to the Japanese dictionary I use, references “ the five fundamental seasonings used in Japanese cooking: (in order) sugar [satou], salt [shio], vinegar [su], soy sauce [shouyu], miso” not sure how shouyu covers se but ok

How I/TnKP handled it: left it as “sashisuse”

How Crunchyroll handled it: Sha shii shu she

So I was busy for most of the week, then when I finally have time to catch up on GX 12, my laptop decides to be a lil’ shit and basically freeze upon logging in and take forever to launch anything… Spent the weekend scanning in safe mode, using CCleaner, etc.  Aaaand I think we’re back to normal now.  HOPEFULLY it’ll be done by the end of the week, lol.

I’VE FINALLY FINISHED REENCODING THE CREDITS FOR 1-11

I DON’T HAVE TO TOUCH THEM AGAIN

Now I just have to finish reencoding the episodes and I can finally keep working on episode 12; wanted to update everything for consistency with the Korean names, using the right apostrophe in the lyrics, and fix some credit positioning issues that kinda irked me first while I haven’t gotten too far in S1.  But between this and my new job, it’s why I haven’t gotten very far with 12 yet, lol.

Pretty sure all the edits I’ve had to send you were done, but I want to apologize for my slowness, too. I’ve been moved up to the most stressful non-management position in my store and I’m working 45 hours a week.

Hey, no need to apologize! I was really focusing more on my job search the last few weeks than on GX, so between that, these consistency fixes, and the stress I’m sure you had piling up at work, I didn’t mind waiting.  (BTW, I’m going to reply to your last fanmail soonish, but congrats on the promotion nomination! Well-earned, I’d say.) 

Now that I’m set in a good job for a while, I’ll hopefully get to play catch-up for a bit, so no worries!

Just watched Crunchyroll’s GX 2 subs, and again, decent translations mostly, just awkward wording in a few spots.  Notably, “99% of duels are decided by intellect”>”A duel’s outcome is settled with 99%…” as I had it, and “In accordance with ante rules”

They also had Asuka use “hazing” re: Judai’s taste of Obelisk Blue, which kinda works in context, I guess.  They don’t actually use “sir” with Manjoume-san every time, and aniki was “big bro” the first time it was said before it became “Bro”, so minor consistency issue there.  Shou’s “Bro, that’s very unlikely” struck me as an odd line for Shou (that “words they probably wouldn’t use” thing I had with 5D’s’ subs strikes again).

I’ll try episode 3 at some point later.

Phew, finally finished working on 11′s script! Just need to finalize some visual edits from prismatic-bell and we’ll be good to go.  Crunchy rolled out their 1-12 subs last night, and I do plan to keep my subs going since I want to update my translations and everything.  I’ll make a post about the quality at some point soon.

Do wonder if they’ve worked with fansubbers before, though; I’d actually be willing to offer them my scripts to work from lol.

It’s so… chilling, maybe, to be retiming the lines in 11 Shou flashes back to about Judai in 137–as he’s denouncing him as his “Big Bro”

Thanks to alicethedragonvalkyrie, soomin1109, and agenderjoshuakiryuu for testing that link out.  I really don’t get why they’re refusing to play on desktops but work fine on mobile devices… I’ll try one more time when I get home, now that my computer got restarted a bunch of times while running some scans, and if that doesn’t work, I may just start a Zippcast account and move things there like dbret12 suggested.  It’ll be annoying having to update the masterpost though, but no pain no gain lol.
