So, I’m catching up on Yugioh VRAINS (and loving every second of it) but I just can NOT get over how the show keeps trying to convince me that AI’s are natural and flawless duelists. I play Duel Links and let me tell you: nothing makes me question my faith in technology quite like letting the computer auto-duel for me. There is NEVER a reason we should be summoning Sphere Kuriboh’ what IS you doin’ auto-duel???
i’m always really happy when new people start watching gx whether it’s sub or dub the only thing is if they watch the dub they miss out on the Gayest Fucking Duel in yugioh history and like how could you deprive yourself of that
y’all if you’re gonna watch the gx dub and you like it and get that far then pls at least watch the end of season 2 in sub at least once you won’t be disappointed i promise
I’d like to take a moment and thank Arc-V for giving Shunzo his own experience in remembering Yuzu that’s apart from Yuya’s. I’ve seen too many shouen animes where by the end of them the only bond that matters to the female protag is her bond for the male protag. Thank you for giving best dad the recognition he deserves and not forgetting Yuzu’s other important bonds.
how to tell if an attack isn’t going to work in ygo: a shot of some of the spectators, and at least one of them says, “If this attack works, [character name] will take [number] points of damage!”
One thing that always hits me like a freight train, whenever I watch the first episodes of GX?
Just how young Judai looked.
I keep seeing photos laid out side-by-side of him in the first episode and then at the start of Season 4, but the thing is that the change was subtle and gradual, not all in one go. He looks noticeably older even at the start of Season 2, just a year into GX’s timeline. His eyes are smaller and placed lower on his face, his features are slightly more mature. He was visually aged up throughout the show’s run, in a way that I’ve rarely seen in anime (one example off the top of my head where the main character changes subtly as they grow older is Attack no 1, also known in the West as Mila Superstar, an anime series dating from 1968).
Of course, he’s not just young physically. To the people seeing him for the first time, Judai seems the quintessential teenage boy, all cocky and loud and brash and selfish in a seemingly harmless way and keen on have-fun-at-any-cost. And if there’s anything else more disturbing percolating under the surface, it’s quickly dismissed… up until Season 3 goes and turns all sorts of small moments into sledgehammer blows, in hindsight.
Doing a rewatch of GX and going through the first episodes is always slightly painful for me, because I’m aware of how much grief and misery and rage and fear and uncertainty all of these children will end up going through. Because they’re just that, still children – even Marufuji Ryou, the celebrated Kaiser of Duel Academia, who thought he had it all figured out even before he set out into the world.
Okay I was watching the Italian version of yugioh arc v and… WTF IS THIS!? HOW!? HOW DO YOU HOLD A CARD LIKE THAT!? DID 4K MAKE EVERYONE DIP THEIR FINGERS IN GLUE OR SOMETHING? AT LEAST THE OTHER CARD-HOLDING EDITS WERE SOMEHOW PLAUSABLE BECAUSE OF THEIR RING FINGERS BEING BEHIND THE CARD, BUT THIS! These edits are going to be the end of me, I swear…
