“giri no imouto” can be translated as sister-in-law
But the problem is"Giri no + relative" is pretty much a catch-all term that refers to any relative that is not related by blood
So, she could be his sister-in-law, but she can also be his adopted sister, step-sister, half-sister, foster sister, etc.
We won’t know for sure until we have more context
I’d just translate it as “non-blood sister”
That’s probably the best way to put it without causing too much confusion about their relationship
So she’s some kind of non blood related family to him, though evidently the general public only knows them as siblings.

Worth noting that Crunchyroll sorta assumed more than they should have with this line. Ai’s originally saying “omae, kou iu no ni kyoumi atta'n da” or “So, you like doing things like this?” Which honestly, could be about either staking out trying to find Aoi (to tie back to his not wanting to stick out since, well, he could feel like he’s sticking out by sitting out there trying to find her) or, yeah, picking up girls, but the latter’s not explicitly stated.
