Took about long enough, phew! This is the actual-finalized episode 9 for ya! Kumazou, Hayato’s dad, comes in to demand Hayato be withdrawn from the Duel Academia due to his slacking, but Judai intervenes to give Hayato a fighting chance.

A huge shoutout to agenderjoshuakiryuu/thepalebride for helping me with translating the “Fighting Spirit” wall scroll in the dojo.  And to Vegas 13 for messing up on me with rendering just when I was finishing getting the clips ready, making me only able to render in Safe Mode.  Big help, Vegas. (Luckily, V8 saw me through.) I also updated the script a bit, mostly just to make “of” “’a” for most of Kumazou’s lines.

A few other minor edits went down in here, a couple for consistency:

• I fixed the shading on Judai’s arm during a frame as he’s turning Hayato around at 3:59
• The animation error with Judai having Shou’s eyes at 6:40 has been fixed; I masked in his eyes from a frame or two before and adjusted them over the original eyes.  Weird how it’s the still shot and not the in-betweens that had the wrong eyes, though.
• When Hayato’s hit by Drunk Tiger’s cat punch, his LP counter appears a second or two after the SFX for it plays.  I fixed it by masking it in on time, then slowing it down to last the rest of the SFX.
• During the Shou/Judai split-screen at 10:55, a frame or two went by where there was empty space between the divider and Judai; I replaced it with the frame before.
• I fixed the consistency error with Death Kangaroo being reversed in Hayato’s flashback compared to earlier in the episode by just applying a flashback effect to the original shot.  Since I couldn’t get the right feathering with the white border, I basically recreated the flashback so it wouldn’t stick out.

The One With the Dragons

Here’s episode 8, all up and finalized for ya! One of my favorites, too.  Judai duels Ryou to find out what happened between him and Shou, and Shou learns something from it.

I did some minor editing in here, adding some quick lip-flaps to Judai’s “Partner!” when Winged Kuriboh shows up as he draws it and Evolutionary Wings, since he’s saying it out loud.  I also wanted to tackle the erroneously placed Mudballman on his Disk that should’ve been Bubbleman, but Vegas wouldn’t let me position the card low enough to cover it.  I’ll try again elsewhere, but I did want to at least put this up lol.  Funny enough, the dub didn’t catch it either, but they dubified the card with some other Fusion Monster (that looked like one of the V-Z fusions, at that).  If I do get to fix it, I’ll have the fix in the hardsub on NAC.

(2017 EDIT: As I gave this episode another go-over, I applied a few more fixes:

• Cleared off Featherman’s card on Judai’s Disk as he reacts from Cyber Dragon’s attack destroying him.
• Repeat of the above as Judai sees Ryou hide away a card in his Capsule; the dub corrected this one but not the first one.
• Fixed the yellow rectangle on Ryou’s Disk as he has Cyber Twin attack post-summoning with a Cyber Twin Dragon proxy.
• Added a missing Thunder Giant to Judai’s Disk as he activates A Hero Appears.
• Actually fixed the Mudballman/Bubbleman issue noted above sometime after originally posting this, I believe, using AfterEffects.
• Added two missing Cyber Dragons onto Ryou’s Disk as he activates Power Bond, fixing the blank Normal Monster card in his hand with another Cyber Dragon.
• Added said two missing Cyber Dragons onto Ryou’s field again as he slips Power Bond into his Disk.)

The One With the Vanishing Act

And episode 5’s now all up and finalized! I might have to just look at a line for a minor edit when I post it on NAC, but we’re good to go here.  Judai ignores warnings and goes straight for a zone in which one could say danger lurks about.  Making it a… DANGER ZONE. *shot*  Also, Titan’s first appearance.

I also fixed a little animation error with Titan’s Genocide-King Daemon when he throws it on his Disk; for a few frames, it originally became a Normal Monster before switching back to an Effect Monster, so I did away with that.  I do feel like tackling the error with Judai’s two Mirror Forces in his hand, but figured I should just post this for now lol.  If I get to it, I’ll update the stream link.

Enjoy, folks! Hoping to get episode 6 done by the end of next week.  I’ve gotten a new job starting next week—one that’s a consistent weekday 9-5!!—so things might get to pick up once I’ve settled into it.  We’ll see lol.

The One With the MELANZANE

Fresh off my laptop, here’s finalized!episode 3, all up and loaded! This was a cool one to revisit since it was always one of my favorite Season 1 episodes.  You might also be able to tell I had some fun with Chronos’s lines here and there lol.

Also did a little minor fix to the footage; I fixed part of a zoom-in to Asuka (“I think I have an idea”), and when Asuka and Judai were getting started, I fixed it so Judai’s half of the split-screen showed him zooming out at the same time as Asuka (originally, they were a frame or two apart, which kinda bugged me).

The One With the “Nya!”

As a belated holiday gift, I give you finalized!episode 2! Or just a belated thing anyway, since it took a bit longer than planned to finish lol (though it might’ve just been since I hadn’t already revised this episode’s script).  

I did a minor fix to the footage by fixing two LP-falling clips so the scores are shown properly (first is Judai from Flame Wingman’s effect, second is Manjoume from… the same lol; originally, the counter just kept fluctuating, never stopping [and in Manjoume’s case, appeared while fluctuating]. Early GX was weird with its counters).

The One With the “Gotcha!”

Two months later than I later realized I would’ve liked (to coincide with its first airdate ten years ago on 10/6/04), here’s my finalized version of episode 1! I’d already updated most of the translations a while ago, so aside from the ones I touched up this go-around, this was more of a stylistic/aesthetic update to match my later releases in spirit; I’ll eventually be reaching Seasons 3 and 4 to give them a touch-up with my new subtitle styling for both the episodes and the OP/ENs.  And because Season 1 didn’t have the “Today’s best card!” segments, but I didn’t want to end the episodes abruptly right after the preview, I’ll be recreating the ending sponsor clips, only adding “Battle on the Edge/Genkai Battle” instead of “Sunshine/Kaisei” over it, and a little “Thanks for watching/tune in next time!” note (since later they add the “Just After This!” thing, so it’s a bit more consistent).  I’ll just have to improvise come episode 24, since they used scenes that weren’t in the episodes.

Also, thanks one more time to thepalebride and aahes for their help with editing that shot of Manjoume in the opening!

I’ve finally gotten this petition online! I’ll probably touch it up at some point (and if anyone wants me to add anything, let me know!), but there it is, and it’d be great if this got spread around like wildfire.  I’ll also try to plug this to Japanese fans by making a video on my Nicovideo account, but hey, let’s get ourselves a GX Sound Duel 3 and/or 5D’s Sound Duel 4! Or at least some kind of statement, because skipping 40+ awesome songs in GX and 20+ in 5D’s for no reason really makes no sense.  Yu-Gi-Oh! series always have great soundtracks, and it’d be nice to appreciate both GX’s and 5D’s’ in full.
