In which–well, I think you know. D:
Here’s 148, folks! But this episode, though… The Kaiser goes out with a bang against Johan, and by the end of it, you’ll be sporting goosebumps just like I do whenever I hear Shou scream “Brother!!”. Enjoy!
(Also, expect some more of those text comparisons because OH GOD THE DUB. [Except maybe how they had Zane talk to Syrus at the end, but still.])
In which OH HAI JOHAN.
147’s all uploaded for you guys! Judai finishes his duel with Baou and learns some stuff from Misawa and Tanya, while Ryou finds himself the ultimate opponent he wanted. Enjoy, folks! 148’ll be up later this weekend to finish his duel with Yubel!Johan (which, IMO, is one of the best in GX).
This post was originally meant for people who I’ve seen watching GX Season 3 with my ancient S3 subs or other QUALITY -ish subs as seen on sites like KissAnime and GogoAnime, but applies to the rest of the series as well–I wanted to urge (well, not so much “urge”–more “suggest” lol) people to check out my hella-updated Season 3 subs as well as the rest, either by streaming on Cloudy through my masterpost, or download at the Neo Ark Cradle (you just need to register to access the Download Forum there).
Re: Season 3, most of those episodes haven’t been updated since about 2008 (especially 144+), and between then and now, things are a lot more accurate and detailed thanks to my getting better at Japanese (and editing), so I’d like to try and phase them out (granted, most people got them through that old batch torrent, so that might be nigh impossible, but y'know). And if you’re watching the updated stuff after watching my Seasons 1 and 2, it’ll be a bit more seamless a transition as you go through Season 3 and into my Season 4 stuff (in terms of “personality conveyed through subs” and readability).
I’m also currently giving GX another run-through as I’m updating and finalizing my Season 1 and 2 stuff (currently at 12), so I’ll be updating the masterpost as needed; keep an eye out on the original post!
[This has been a PSA. Pass it on! :)]
In which JUDAI.
Before I go on, I just need to insert the usual mention of the dub here. Like, I thought 137 was bad enough, but I think 146’s dub tops it. SO. MUCH. ADDED. TALKING. Like, I’ll be looking at my script, and it’ll be a 30-second gap between subs, while the dub has line upon line going on in that gap… And it ruins the mood so much here. Especially those added lines where it’s clear Judai’s thinking, like at the end. If it wasn’t for dub!Ryou’s acting, it would’ve sucked entirely.
…anywho, yeah, here’s 146 for you guys! Judai tries to come to grips with what he did as the Supreme King, Baou comes in to capitalize, and it’s a good episode, but this is all warmup for the awesome that starts in 147: Hell Kaiser VS Yubel!Johan! Look out for it next week.
In which ED NOOOO D:
Well, here’s 145, all up and loaded. If you’re getting feels from this episode, you’ve got some more coming in 146 next week. Enjoy!
In which–wait, Amon’s still in this show?
Here’s episode 144 for you guys! And it’s Ed’s first and probably last duel in this whole season, lol. Enjoy, folks!
(Also, a Translation Note:
At 16:45: Not sure if it’s worth mentioning, but Ed’s line about “2 spins” was hard to reword, since he says “futatsu” which refers to the two counters Eternal Dread adds, but he doesn’t say “counters”. In case you’re new to Clocktower of Seclusion, one spin/counter = 3 hours.)
So JP!144 starts with a recap of O'Brien VS The Supreme King, then we get Teardrop, and the whole nightmare thing with Judai remembering Jim and O'Brien dying before he screams as he wakes up.
The dub doesn’t start with a recap (shocking, right?), so it goes right into Jaden’s nightmare by adding a shot of him sleeping, then changing the Jim flashback a bit. But as he wakes up and screams from the nightmare, they cut to the too-cheery-for-this-part-of-the-series “Get Your Game On”.
Awkward.
In which O'BRIEN NOOOOO D:
Ahem… Yeah, 143’s all done. Which means the Supreme King miniarc is all done. I wish it was longer, but for what it was, it ends on a pretty good note in this episode. Enjoy, folks!
In which O'Brien, “badass,” something/something.
Forget my last post, GX 142 just finally uploaded! Enjoy, folks; 143’s on the way in the next day or two to end this Supreme King miniarc. Unfortunately.
In which Ed and Ryou have some kind of roleplay thing going. Also, O'Brien snapping out of his random fear thing.
Here’s GX 141, all done! Finally. Work and stuff kinda crept in and pushed this back, unfortunately. I’ve got a few less hours this week, so I’ll try to get 142–maybe 143 if I can–done by/during next weekend. Enjoy!
In which Jim concludes his being badass. Unfortunately. Also, O'Brien, well…yeah.
And here’s 140, all done! Enjoy, folks; ‘tis a good one. Join us again next week for some quality time with O'Brien in 141.
In which SPINNING DUEL DISK OF DOOM. Also, part 1 of Jim being badass.
Enjoy, folks! To make up for the delay, 140’s getting done by Wednesday, at the latest.
I’m so mature.
Also, scrolled through one of the GX tags…
…and Saiou’s dub last name is apparently Kumar?
*cue the Harold & Kumar jokes*
