The One With the Tag Team Again

It feels like just two months ago when I got 10 uploaded.  Whoops. ^^;

The Tag Duel between Judai/Shou and the Meikyuu Brothers continues, the former team starting to hit their groove.  Also, Chronos gets in touch with his feline side.

Thanks for your patience with this one, guys! Lots of IRL stuff going on to kinda distract me, plus I was waiting on a few animation error fixes from prismatic-bell.  We got rid of Judai’s extra hand, and gave Shou his deck back in a shot or two.  Thanks again, PB, and thanks for working with my attention to detail, haha.

In other news, Crunchyroll rolled out (heh) their GX subs, and they’ll be chugging along with about 12 episodes a month.  I plan to keep my finalizations going to update my translations and all, and I’ll use their subs to help improve mine in some spots.  For example, they’re translating “Manjoume-san” as “[Sir] Manjoume, sir”, which I do think works better than “The Manjoume”, and it’ll probably help the “Thunder” pun later, lol.  I’ll just have to backtrack and update some scripts on that front.  And I’ll post some thoughts I have on their subs when I get a chance, since a few people have asked what I think of ‘em.  For now, “decent” comes to mind, lol.

The One With the Tag Team

The time’s come for Judai and Shou to fight for their right to party stay at Duel Academia.  With some special guests courtesy of Chronos.

Thanks to agenderjoshuakiryuu for helping out with editing a frame with Judai’s hair being miscolored a bit. :) Also, I tweaked that panning shot of Gate Guardian before it attacks to destroy Cycroid so it doesn’t start zooming out before the white flashing frame, because I thought that looked a bit off lol. (EDIT, 2021: Some more fixes applied, listed in bold under the cut below!)

Enjoy! The episode’s also up for download over on NAC. Unfortunately, I haven’t had much time in the last week to work on 11, since I wanted to finally have 179 finalized, so expect 11 done by next weekend.

Bumping this because (aside from losing my older post thanks to the editor being stupid), a certain flier’s finally been translated! With that “Battle City V2″ flier now in good ol’ English, this episode’s now pretty much finalized, save for when I give it one last run-through eventually. Huge thanks to prismatic-bell​ for taking up the task, and I’d also like to give a shoutout to se-to-oh​ for all of the work she put into trying to tackle it before her. Enjoy!

Took about long enough, phew! This is the actual-finalized episode 9 for ya! Kumazou, Hayato’s dad, comes in to demand Hayato be withdrawn from the Duel Academia due to his slacking, but Judai intervenes to give Hayato a fighting chance.

A huge shoutout to agenderjoshuakiryuu/thepalebride for helping me with translating the “Fighting Spirit” wall scroll in the dojo.  And to Vegas 13 for messing up on me with rendering just when I was finishing getting the clips ready, making me only able to render in Safe Mode.  Big help, Vegas. (Luckily, V8 saw me through.) I also updated the script a bit, mostly just to make “of” “’a” for most of Kumazou’s lines.

A few other minor edits went down in here, a couple for consistency:

• I fixed the shading on Judai’s arm during a frame as he’s turning Hayato around at 3:59
• The animation error with Judai having Shou’s eyes at 6:40 has been fixed; I masked in his eyes from a frame or two before and adjusted them over the original eyes.  Weird how it’s the still shot and not the in-betweens that had the wrong eyes, though.
• When Hayato’s hit by Drunk Tiger’s cat punch, his LP counter appears a second or two after the SFX for it plays.  I fixed it by masking it in on time, then slowing it down to last the rest of the SFX.
• During the Shou/Judai split-screen at 10:55, a frame or two went by where there was empty space between the divider and Judai; I replaced it with the frame before.
• I fixed the consistency error with Death Kangaroo being reversed in Hayato’s flashback compared to earlier in the episode by just applying a flashback effect to the original shot.  Since I couldn’t get the right feathering with the white border, I basically recreated the flashback so it wouldn’t stick out.

So my old 110mb GX/5D’s comparison site is being reincarnated! Slowly.

I signed up on Bluehost to pay $3.50-ish/month for it, and it’s being powered by Wordpress.  I’ll be spending some time getting the hang of it as I copy over the html from my old site’s pages and then reformat things, so hang tight.  As of now, I have 5D’s’ Season and OP/EN pages up and linked to each other (though I didn’t save the more recent copy of the OP/EN page so I’ll have to add to it), and 5D’s 1′s comparison is the only one actually up for now.  I’ll slowly add the rest this week.

But yeah, new site, so update your bookmarks! :D

The One With the Dragons

Here’s episode 8, all up and finalized for ya! One of my favorites, too.  Judai duels Ryou to find out what happened between him and Shou, and Shou learns something from it.

I did some minor editing in here, adding some quick lip-flaps to Judai’s “Partner!” when Winged Kuriboh shows up as he draws it and Evolutionary Wings, since he’s saying it out loud.  I also wanted to tackle the erroneously placed Mudballman on his Disk that should’ve been Bubbleman, but Vegas wouldn’t let me position the card low enough to cover it.  I’ll try again elsewhere, but I did want to at least put this up lol.  Funny enough, the dub didn’t catch it either, but they dubified the card with some other Fusion Monster (that looked like one of the V-Z fusions, at that).  If I do get to fix it, I’ll have the fix in the hardsub on NAC.

(2017 EDIT: As I gave this episode another go-over, I applied a few more fixes:

• Cleared off Featherman’s card on Judai’s Disk as he reacts from Cyber Dragon’s attack destroying him.
• Repeat of the above as Judai sees Ryou hide away a card in his Capsule; the dub corrected this one but not the first one.
• Fixed the yellow rectangle on Ryou’s Disk as he has Cyber Twin attack post-summoning with a Cyber Twin Dragon proxy.
• Added a missing Thunder Giant to Judai’s Disk as he activates A Hero Appears.
• Actually fixed the Mudballman/Bubbleman issue noted above sometime after originally posting this, I believe, using AfterEffects.
• Added two missing Cyber Dragons onto Ryou’s Disk as he activates Power Bond, fixing the blank Normal Monster card in his hand with another Cyber Dragon.
• Added said two missing Cyber Dragons onto Ryou’s field again as he slips Power Bond into his Disk.)
