  • Hey, guys!

    Just a quick question: any chance one of you has a transparent version of this Duel Academia logo? Not just the “DA”, but also the little circle around them that reads “DUEL ACADEMY OBELISK BLUE RA YELLOW OSIRIS RED”; I wanted to try translating the little flier that Asuka gets about Kenzan’s party in 161, and I was hoping someone out there in the fandom would have it, since I can’t think of an episode to get a good screencap of it.

    If not, guess I’ll improv lol.

    Apologies for the huge delay, but here’s 161! With graduation approaching for the Third-Years, Kenzan puts together a Pair Duel Tournament to spice things up.  Enjoy!

    See, in 108, before Judai/Jaden got hit hard by the Dis-Belts/Bio-Bands, Shou/Sy went to him with a dilemma he was facing: with the Survival Duels being about winning or losing, he says that’s not what he’s about; he’s more about respecting his opponents through his respectful dueling.  But since he wants to inherit the title of “Kaiser” from his brother, he won’t be able to if he can’t win his way through these duels and protect his Blue uniform.  Judai can’t really answer him since he’s dueled just for fun, which leads Shou to wonder if he has to duel as passionately as he does, and Judai notes that they’re really different. Disappointed by the answer, Shou runs off, still confused.

    Then, while he’s hanging off a cliff, he has the realization that dueling with passion and respecting your opponents weren’t things that shouldn’t mix, which–when Judai’s knocked out and he comes to–leads him to say that, since they’re different, he’ll move on in his own way.  He thinks he’s not fit for Blue just yet, so he’ll work his way up to Kaiser from back in Ra Yellow.

    Meanwhile, the dub? Syrus is all worried about Viper being evil and Jaden is just “lol nah he’s not out to hurt anyone” (also, Tyranno talking about the “survival of the fittest” in the Survival Duels–what gets Shou thinking–becomes “if you see a pipsqueak besides you let him know I’m on the hunt for him” or something idk).  Then Jesse says, “But what happens if he’s right?” *points to everything going up to 136*

    And that realization? “Nah, let’s break the fourth wall and have Syrus fantasize about his own spinoff.” And his reason for leaving Blue’s to stay by Jaden’s side and make sure nothing like this happens to him again.  A lot of good that does

    …Okay, watered it down so much it’s not even there wow

  • So this is an idea I’ve been mulling over for a while, since I started Season 4: translating the previews’ text (the “PREVIEW” and titles).  I mean, since I already translate the OP/EN and the title cards…lol. I was thinking of doing it now starting with 161, so I uploaded this as a test for how it’d look so you guys can check it out. And hopefully tell me the subs aren’t too jarring, lol (I think it might be since I’m just used to seeing the Japanese text there). I might end up making “PREVIEW” a bit bigger, though… 

    Also, the subs here aren’t final; I might change them as I work on 161 itself. Lemme know what you think!

    So…forgetting I said it’d be done last weekend, here’s 160 for you! And in an update to what I said in my 159 post, not much more gets found out about the Abandoned Dorm stuff here, lol.  Besides it getting blown to pieces  Also, Judai realizes something at the end in a cute scene.

  • GX 160 Update~

    Hey guys, sorry about the holdup! I planned to get it done last weekend, but didn’t get a chance to start timing it until Tuesday; I spent most of yesterday timing it and got as far as the turn where Judai tries to use Gran Mole (~13 mins in).  It should be done by tomorrow, Saturday latest. :)

    So yeah, you’re seeing this because I’m running a bit late again this week lol; just had some stuff and work going on this week.  I just got up to the turn in the duel where Judai uses Convert Contact (~14 mins in); ETA would probably be Saturday or Sunday again at this point, barring a sudden hangout or something.  Stay tuned!
