Episode 156, apparently too good of a clipshow for 4Kids to not try screwing up.
Here it is, folks–our season finale! With Judai missing for a week now, everyone recalls some of their encounters with him. (Also, Judai totally won that duel, Manjoume.) Enjoy!
(And now, cue my month-ish hiatus. I’ll be getting some work done on other projects I’ll post about, and getting stuff ready for Season 4. Keep an eye out!)
Oh, and GX 156 is up on Dailymotion! :) I’ll put up a link when I get home later.
So I set that “unamused Yubel” pic as my phone’s wallpaper.
It’s like my phone’ll judge me whenever I use it.
Also, as a heads-up (I’ll start saying this now and repeat it next week), I’ll be taking a mini-hiatus after 156 gets done for 2-3 weeks. Aside from prepping stuff for Season 4, I’ll also be trying to get some work done on other projects I’ve had stalled for a while, like 5D’s’ comparisons, my GX BGM rips, and that BBT rescoring thing. Keep an eye out!
And now, the thrilling conclusion!
Here’s 155, all loaded for ya. This wraps up Season 3’s arc as we find out some…interesting stuff about Judai and Yubel, with 156 next week being our wind-down season finale. It’s also a really good episode. Enjoy, folks!
Just wondering, for you GX screencap collectors, any chance these file sheets about Judai (shown here), Ryou, and Misawa in 156 are ever shown again in Season 4?

I was hoping to translate these like I did Amon’s sheet back in 111 and 121, and while I can make out a few parts, it’d be nice to have a better shot to work with instead of just guessing at the fragments (and have it read “In 2004/E-Heroes/in his deck/etc” lol).
If not, meh I’ll just leave ‘em untranslated. *shrug* I was actually looking forward to messing around with these haha.
(Also, 155’s all done and I have it uploading. DON’T FAIL ME NOW, INTERNET.) [I can’t even remember the last time I got an episode done before the weekend lol]
JP Version: “Beyond the Sorrow” in the background
Shou: “That’s right… The first thing I need to do now is forget about Judai Yuki right away!”
Judai (ep7): Shou! If you’re really my lil’ bro, then you’ll suck it up and do the best you can.
*Shou gasps, shudders*
Judai (ep8): Quit whining already! I made up my mind! You're my partner!
*more shuddering*
Judai (ep11): You try to have fun when you duel, and you care about your cards. That’s something we’ve got in common. [in present] I want to duel with you again, too.
Shou: “But why?! Why is his face the only thing I see?! Get out! Get out of my head! *looks at Disk* As long as I have this on my arm, I won’t be able to drive him out…” *chucks it, gasps at what he just did*
THE DUB: completely 180’d ACTION-y music in the background
Syrus: “All right, a new saga begins–the Syrus Spinoff Show! Starring Syrus and ONLY Syrus! Episode 1: Our hero is lost in a creepy new world far from home, and never ever EVER thinking about Jaden! EVER! Not ever! Not–”
Jaden (ep7, except not really): Hey Sy, you’re not getting rid of me that easily! We’ve been friends for far too long, buddy!
*Syrus gasps. shudders*
Jaden (ep8, except not really): Friends don’t give up on friends! They stick together, even when things get rough!
*shuddering*
Jaden (ep11, except not really): Here’s the thing, Sy: anyone can make a comeback, no matter how low they’ve dropped. A duel isn’t over until the last card is played! [in present] You gotta keep it together ‘til the very end! You gotta believe!
Syrus: “Jaden! You’re the one who’s forgotten about his friends! I’m not the one who gave up, Jaden–you are! *looks at his Disk* That’s it! If I give up on dueling, then… there’s no more Jaden, so… *chucks it, gasps* That did the trick… Now, he’s gone forever…”
Manjoume: “[Judai: "Sit tight! I’ll save you soon!”] Wait, is… Is he dueling?!
*growls*
Judai, you damn idiot! Weren’t you going to save Johan with us?! Getting yourself all flared up… You didn’t even stop to think about us at all, did you?! That’s just how you are! You were the only one in your kingdom from the get-go! We were the idiots for getting all motivated with you and feeling some sense of friendship with you being like that!“
*sparklepoof starts*
—————————————————————
Chazz: "You’d better [bust us out of those chains in no time, ‘hang tight!’], 'cause if you didn’t know it…
*"growls”*
I’m in these chains 'cause of you! And 'hang tight’?! If it weren’t for you, I’d be maxin’ and relaxin’ [let that sink in for a second] back at Duel Academy! But you gotta go and make yourself feel better… You’re always running head-first into things, never thinking about the consequences! I’ll tell you what I’m talking about! [Jaden asked] You ran into that portal knowing that your friends wouldn’t let you go alone! It’s all 'fun and games’ with Jaden… And now you try to act all cool and tell me to 'hang tight’? I’m in CHAINS, man, I can’t hang any tighter!!“
*sparklepoof starts*
Dub!GX Drinking Game: Take a shot every time dub!Amon/Adrian breaks the fourth wall. Down the glass if awesome spy music plays after.
Revised:
Asuka: Judai!
Judai: It’s me… It’s my fault… I left Johan behind… I’m responsible…
A: No, you’re not! We were all saved thanks to you, Judai! How could you be responsible?
J: You guys just don’t get it! All of this… is my fault…

For those who might want to actually start watching GX, but who don’t want to slog blindly through 180 episodes, I made a guide of relevant episodes for a friend that I figured Tumblr might appreciate, too.
Disclaimer: I do still encourage that you watch the whole thing if you plan to get into it regardless, but if it’s not feasible, this at least helps point out the episodes that are required watching for plot and such, recommended-though-not-strictly-essential episodes, and flat-out filler that can be safely skipped with no real consequence.
A good episode guide for those of you who want to watch GX.
Accurate, but I’ll add for 13-15 that 13 also happens at the cliff where O'Brien is introduced in Season 3, 14 happens at the Power Generator Complex that gets to be important in S3 since it’s where Zweinstein contacts Misawa and co in the other dimension, and 15 happens in the Tennis Courts, which is where Johan VS Ryou happens to send Rainbow Dragon over. I’d say 16 also lends more to how prideful Chronos is about Obelisk Blue, and if you watch 73, it’d be good to watch 17 for the Drawbread concept since there’s a scene involving it (which got cut out in the dub idky). 38’s good for one thing, in that it shows how much Shou cares for Judai by the end (might be a little weird, but hey).
Re:66, let’s not forget MANJOUME ACTING LIKE A MONKEY FOR A FEW SECONDS.
Re:81: Judai messing up on Gagagigo = so worth it
But yeah, watching 90%+ of GX before Season 3 and getting a good feel for everyone will make it a lot more worth watching. ALSO THE FEELS
REDBULL GIVES YOU WINGS.
In case you missed it last night, I posted the video for subbed!154 over here. Enjoy!
On a side-note for 154…
I think it made me more aware of how inconsistent the animators are with Judai’s hair. I mean, going from

to

is a little…yeah. There’s also some parts where Judai’s looking forward that have that bit of hair on Judai’s right on both sides of his head. And it looks really weird.
Just something that really stood out as I was timing the subs, lol.
