Made a TV-size edit of @jorpor’s impressive English cover for 99%! Kept the first few seconds from the original TV-size song, faded his cover near the middle to the bridge, and faded it out to the ending from the original TV-size song. I like how it came out!
#tbt to when I made a presentation in my Japanese 202 class back in college on the Tanabata festival (which starts today in Japan), which was inspired by -OZONE-, a song used in a show about card games–how about that? I also just really loved this song back then, haha. And it was cool how it tied into the legends about it. And apparently Yusei’s birthday falls on it? Oddly fitting.

Prepping for GX 22′s card fixes when
What even was this 4Kids
Hey, guys!
So, a while back, I got the idea to eventually try to get into subbing ARC-V myself; I’ve been really enjoying the show, and I’ve been wanting to bring more accuracy to the subs that are already out. I joked before that I’d start when I hit 777 followers (referencing the 777th YGO episode celebrations), but a few weeks ago…

…it happened, haha. (Thanks to everyone who’s been following me! I’ve gained 10 more since, but I appreciate everyone sticking around, even as I post about all the different stuff I’m working on, haha.)
So yeah, I’ve spent the last few months prepping, whipping up scripts for the OP and EN, getting raws together, etc (main reason I was also delaying it was because I was waiting for DVD raws to work with, given animation touch-ups and all [and hopefully they’ll fix Kite’s “Trap” error]). I’m starting from the beginning, and I’m planning to go into it the same as I do my GX subs: translating the OP/ENs, the title card, the previews, etc. And I’ve made some headway; I’ve finished the karaoke for BelieveXBelieve (and lemme tell you, that was an adventure) and have finished translating the whole OP, which you can check out here! (May just do a minor tweak or two to it now, but that’s what you can expect) I just need to work on the karaoke for One Step, and that’ll be good to go, too. Special thanks to Jake759 (who’s helped me with GX’s textless title cards) for recreating the credits’ flashing effects and helping with the script I’ll use for the title card.
Planning to likely to work on it two-GX-one-ARC-V for the time being, as GX will be a higher priority while I finalize my scripts (and I’d also like to work more on my DBZKai/5D’s project), but I’m definitely looking forward to this. And hopefully you guys are, too. :)
Friendly reminder that I, DIO GLL99, have a masterpost with all of my GX subs–not only with my newer, more accurate Season 3 and all my S4 subs that most sites like KissAnime don’t have (opting for GX_ST or my ancient Season 3 subs, both of which are obsolete), but also my newly finalized Season 1 subs [in progress]–readily available should you want to watch GX.
Also, YOU SHOULD WATCH GX. :P
The One Where the Thing Gets Stopped
To decide the Academia’s delegate for the Academy Face-Off Duel, a duel occurs between Judai and Misawa. Misawa prepares his seventh deck–based on detailed calculations–in order to thwart Judai. While scuffling with Misawa’s Water Dragon, Judai faces him with his E-Heroes, but he plays right into Misawa’s strategy. Elsewhere, a man out to get rich quick by making a scoop out of the academy’s mysteries is lurking about when he comes into contact with Judai.
Episode 21! This was a fun one; this duel’s one of my favorites because of Judai and Misawa’s early rivalry, and it’s a shame it went the way it did. It was actually pretty clever of Misawa to use Cursed Seal to stop Fusion, and like Misawa points out, Judai’s easy to beat if you strip him of being able to fuse, lol. Kunisaki’s also interesting–seems his character could be a bit like Koyou in the manga from how he apparently used E-Heroes in that flashback where he loses to Kaiba, except for the lack of connection to Judai. We’ll see a bit more about him next episode, but it’s also nice that he let us get a nice moment of Hayato showing his development so far.
Also, I’m using Tune.pk because Cloudy keeps giving me issues, and Dailymotion password-protected vids don’t seem to work anymore. Lemme know of any issues!
And, of course, this episode also saw a few more fixes! Ten all together; all but one involved cards, and some of those were fun to try and do given the ghosting on some frames, lol. All listed below the cut, if you’re interested. Enjoy! I’ll start work on 22 soon. :)
I KNOWWW it looks gorgeous as hell, and I really don’t want my first exposure to it to be the dub–unless it’s of surprisingly good quality like I hope it’ll be since it’s this big movie. But yeah, they want to keep the DVDs from coming out until next year, and I’m like

But at least we’ll get some awesome edits from you when it’s finally out! :D
GX 24 - Unused Sponsor Clip Footage
So, I’m getting my next batch of prepwork ready for the next few episodes when this came up. This is the sponsor bit from episode 24 that shows Manjoume after he’s accepted into the North Campus, on his way to Duel Academia, that doesn’t get used in episode 25–where it should logically, since at the beginning it’s nightfall as he gets his deck–AT ALL for some reason. And it’s weird since these clips aren’t previews of the next episode until Season 2. This’ll happen a few times, notably in episode 80′s clip during 79 where the Alice episode looks creepier than it actually ends up being. (I would’ve loved to see that Misawa scene…)
That said, how to handle this… Because it’s unused, I’d like to keep it, but the sponsor text is a bit of a problem, seeing as how my other “Thanks for watching!” clips have been recreated/made up to avoid it. I was going to try to clear the text, but even with stitching the pans->clear text->re-pan, it’d be a lot of work, let alone going frame-by-frame for 240 of them (especially with the moving sky and water). Which leaves keeping it like this or just making a new one from the episode (and maybe separately uploading this clip on NAC)… But if some brave soul would like to help text-wipe the frames (and I’d be hella grateful), they’d have plenty of time seeing as how I won’t hit this episode for 1-2 or 3 months, haha. Otherwise, as long as people don’t mind the text, I wouldn’t mind just doing the former, lol.
(The video embedded above is mostly unrelated, just added so I could still keep this post up in its current Video-post format.)
A transfer student named Rei joins Judai’s room, but things become baffling through his refusal to join them to bathe and his attachment to the Kaiser. When Rei goes out looking for the Kaiser’s room, Judai follows him and finds out Rei’s secret. Only Judai gets caught by the Blue students, but he doesn’t tell them about Rei. With the secret on the line, a duel begins between Judai and Rei. Rei’s deck, featuring the “Maiden in Love,” is one with a love flair to it.
Phew, finally have this done! Unfortunately, I’m getting some stupid “Invalid Session ID” error on Cloudy that even this cookie-deleter extension’s not solving, so I’m using tune.pk for now. This was a fun episode, also setting up the next few episodes as the mini Interschool Duel arc comes up, and Rei was a nice character to work with here, as were the Sparkman/Featherman/Burstlady/Maiden interactions because what even was that haha. (Worth noting that I’m pretty sure everything from Rei moving into Judai’s room to the hella random bathing scene makes up the biggest cut 4Kids had done to the spinoffs until maybe the stupid cut at the end of Crashtown in 5D’s–except, unlike there, this episode didn’t have a recap for them to fluff the episode with. May have to do a comparison to see how fluffed the dialogue was, lol.)
There were also some fixes to this episode, as well as a translation edit for the hardsub here! Luckily, not too many fixes compared to the adventure that was 19, but they’re there below the cut for you, if you’re curious. Enjoy, guys! I’ll update this post and my stream masterpost when Cloudy lets me upload this there.

Hey!
So, I’ve slowly been working on this project in between my fansubbing YGO GX; Dragon Ball is sorta my secondary fandom–though I’m less active in it, I’ll occasionally reblog a thing or two here–and the Kai dub has been insanely fun to watch. However, a lot of fans likely know how Kai’s composer, Kenji Yamamoto, was canned over a music scandal where a lot of his tracks were plagiarized–three episodes away from ending after Cell. Toei rushed to replace his tracks with Z Kikuchi stuff, then went back to the rest of the series, which wouldn’t be a bad thing–if they used more tracks to work with. I loved the Yamamoto score despite that, and while I like the Kikuchi score, I felt the music gets repetitive too easily given the limited tracklist. (Also, a Cell arc theme playing in the Saiyan arc wut)
Now, I love consistency (as anyone who knows how I go about subbing knows), and I’m also a big YGO fan. Way back, I got the idea to time the vocal tracks for clips with 5D’s’ soundtrack (Wall 5 Project/Yutaka Minobe; YGO series generally have great music, and 5D’s is up there); one of my favorites was Goku’s Super Saiyan transformation to “Light & Dark.” And then, I decided I’d try to make a consistent soundtrack for Kai using that soundtrack. It’s amazing how well it works in spots, haha.
So, enter this. As I’m only up to episode 4 (which I just finished and am adding here!), I’ll update this post as I get more done and reblog it/post the new ones separately and linking to this, so keep an eye out! Feel free to send me feedback, as I’d love to hear what people think of these, haha. I’m going by the soundtracks’ release order, spacing things out to fit the arcs, unless I feel a track in a later release fits better (saving most of SD3 Disc 1 for likely the Buu arc now that the dub’s finally a thing), and also trying to use some unreleased tracks if able. I’ll figure out a way to release the audio files; either I’ll post them here/NAC, or maybe on Kanzenshuu now that my account’s active there. Stay tuned, lol; enjoy!
(Also, the vocal audio for the Narrator on episode 3′s recap is wonky because the way I extracted the center vocal channel still kept the Yamamoto recap track there; I recreated it from the soundtrack and used some noise reduction to get as much out as I could out; hopefully I’ll get to fix that with better audio.)
Realized I missed an instance or two of Burstlady’s strap missing in GX 18, so I thought I’d see how the dub handled it.
I am not disappoint.
