So I’m getting ready to go over my subs for GX 65 and I’d like to try and translate this magazine cover–but I’m having some trouble making out the Japanese on the lower right with the bullet points:

Any chance someone would be able to make out the red Japanese there and transcribe it? I’m assuming it’s meant to be a “Contents” summary, and I can make out the first two bullets as あのデュエリストは今 and プロリーグ[対戦?]データ; for bullet #3, I can make out ベストデュエル and bullet #4 seems to be something about type and deck? I’ve already gotten the “特集 カイザー丸藤亮 サイバードラゴンデッキ徹底解剖” portion. Bonus points if there’s something under the “07″ like an edition marker or something.
I tried to Google some of these to see if a fan had transcribed it already, but no luck. And I hoped the recent raws encoded by “YES” that I found on Nyaa would be of higher quality as they were for 5D’s, but they’re not. Any help would be appreciated!
(EDIT: Thanks to a kind anon, we’ve worked out 99% of bullet #3 to read, “読者が[?]ベストデュエル” (where [?] is a missing kanji, though it looks like there might be a ぶ or something next to it? 🤔), and bullet 4 to read, “タイプ用デッキ攻撃法”; just need the heading and the missing kanji in bullet #3, along with a confirmation that I’m correctly reading “ プロリーグ[対戦?]“ in bullet #2, and I should be good to go. Thanks again!)
While Judai is away from home, Shou and Tyranno Kenzan argue about which of them is Judai’s “little bro,” prompting a duel between the two in which their passion towards their Big Bro is at stake. First, Dark Tyranno–Kenzan’s boss Monster–lands a direct attack on Shou. Then, Shou uses his Cyber Summon Blaster Permanent Trap to chip away at Kenzan’s Life in 300-point chunks. He also completes a defensive combo with Ambulance Rescueroid and Decoyroid…
Here’s a newly-finalized episode 64! This episode’s interesting because of the whole Shou/Kenzan dynamic getting fleshed out a bit, with the two coming to some level of understanding with each other as Kenzan maturely opts to throw the duel after realizing how dedicated and close Shou is to Judai. We’ll get a bit more from them later, but it is nice that we close that out here. Also, Fubuki’s being Fubuki much to Asuka’s chagrin, making us wonder how this season would pan out if he was still possessed, and we see a shirtless Judai in… Pharaoh-branded boxers that I’m surprised aren’t a real thing yet.
Now, in terms of footage fixes… I guess after two episodes of not having much to fix, 64 had quite a few to work with; I worked on 10 edits altogether, all card-related, and I’d originally picked out five I thought would be it before I backtracked for the others I’d noticed. The animators didn’t play all their cards right here, lol. List below the cut, as usual. (For the ending Today’s Best Card segment, I also added a line in the card details for Ambulance Rescueroid’s Fusion Materials that the original didn’t include just to keep consistency; this line is used for future Fusion Monster showcases, so it looks like they might’ve just forgotten it in this one.)
Enjoy, folks! With this done, next time we’re revisiting a classic: Hell Kaiser Ryou’s debut episode~ I’ve been looking forward to this, and it should be fun to revisit. Should have episode 65 done in 2-3 weeks, maybe sooner if ‘rona jab #2 doesn’t hit me too rough this Friday 4/30–fingers crossed!

GX 64 - What the Disk? 🤨

Oh hey, it’s Shou! After fasting and looking for Judai, he’s running back to face Kenzan in their duel!

So determined!

And Asuka’s in disbelief that Shou strained himself like that just for Judai!

Shou brushes off the dirt and leaves that were on him and–

wh… where’d his Disk come from
These are all in sequential order; Shou doesn’t have his Disk and then suddenly he does, lol. No backpack to carry it in either…
[In this house we appreciate Professor Kabayama]
Instructor Kabayama, Yellow’s dorm leader, tries to bring Tyranno Kenzan and the others who have kept staying at the Red dorm back to the Yellow dorm–doing so by using curry to lure them. Kenzan and Kabayama then duel, and Kabayama activates his Curry Pot Permanent Magic, which gradually removes his carrot, potato, and onion from the game, culminating in the summoning of Curry Fiend Roux. Due to his Spice Cards, Roux has his ATK raised up to 4100–much like a curry that was carefully simmered and thoroughly prepared…
Episode 63′s newly revised and finalized! Didn’t mean to take three weeks since 62, but since I was getting my first jab against the, uh, crush card virus we have out there, I tried to get the episode’s script taken care of this week just in case it went down a bit tough, lol. (So far, at least, slight arm soreness aside, I’m feeling good!) also i just got a Switch
After the bit of plot dump we got last episode with Judai, we have a bit of a breather episode here that’s also somewhat endearing, as we have some screentime for one of the Duel Academia’s oft-neglected professors in Kabayama–who I know I’d seen somewhere before… Kenzan also gets some more duel time, premiering his new Dino Infinity, and Kabayama translating the cooking of curry into a dueling strategy was interesting. Meanwhile, Judai’s slowly working his way back to everyone, so we’ll put a pin on him for now.
Fix-wise, I did apply a few quality-of-life footage edits which were split-screen-related, but not too hard to work on. Some details below the cut, as usual.
Enjoy, everyone! I’ll be getting work started on 64 next in a day or two, and I should have it done before Injection Fairy Lily jabs me again in three weeks; it’s Shou VS Kenzan to decide who really is Judai’s lil’ bro, and it starts an interesting Shou/Kenzan dynamic~
A despondent Judai finds himself in hyperspace. With the guidance of a strange yet friendly dolphin alien, Judai reunites with the cards he drew as a child which were launched into space by the Kaiba Corporation–but due to the power of the universe’s will, they became perfected cards. Judai then duels a hostile space creature, and he begins to understand the concept of his new deck, which harnesses the power of Neo Space, a body of energy at the ends of the universe, to power up his Monsters.
Here’s a finalized!62 for you! Despite the randomness of Judai finding himself in a world 600 million miles away because of a shooting star crashing into him, this is an interesting episode that helps set up some overarching plot points we’ll see for the rest of the series, between Neo Space, the whole “power of righteous darkness” thing, and the concept of dark (good) vs light (evil) which doesn’t happen often. We also get Judai’s mental fog due to the effect Saiou’s powers had on him clear up as he rediscovers the kid inside him, and–as a Japanese blog I looked up some lines on put it–”the start of the ‘Neos overuse’ legend,” lol. Of course, this also sets up the next few “Judai’s lost” episodes, but we’ll see soon enough that there’s a reason for them.
Animation fix-wise, nothing to report here! (EDIT, 2021: That was a lie; one fix I came back to do under the cut!)
Enjoy, folks; I’ll be getting started on 63 soon, as Kenzan gets some time to shine, and everyone suddenly gets hungry…
GX 62: Crunchyroll, You Had ONE Job (Part 2 - Electric “What Does It Do")
GX Finalized!62 Subbed (WIP) - “judai i s2g”
Been a while since I posted one of these!
So, after I finished my 5D’s “Dub-Uncut” project a bit ago, I wanted to go ahead and work on a full version of the singable lyrics I whipped up for CROSS GAME; I was proud of how the TV-size translation came out and wanted to tackle the full song, since I’d never done so. There’s also no English (or even Spanish!) cover of this song apparently, so hopefully this helps to inspire folks to try it; it’s a really good song, and I miiiight’ve started thinking of Yusei and Aki a bit as I did the second verse with the “you lock me out… let me in?” line as CROSS GAME starts being used post-Fortune Cup and all, but I think the “shared goals” part and hearing stories can also work with the Signers coming together from their different backgrounds for their united purpose.
For the line about an allegro, because an allegro describes something happening in almost an instant, the idea was that the scene being so captivatingly imagined about shared goals as stars lighting up the sky would be more vivid because it’d feel so much longer when actually in the moment of it happening. It was tough trying to word it well enough to convey that, but hopefully I did, lol.
Enjoy, and yeah, feel free to use for fandubs or as a base for them or what have you! I’ll revise my Last Train - A New Morning translations soonish too and post those up, along with the With the Wind and Believe in Magic lyrics I meant to post for VRAINS *checks notes* two+ years ago… whoops
(Other Song Translations [including ARC-V and VRAINS stuff])
Swoldier_X out here doing the Egyptian Gods’ work with their Duel Links Anime-OST replacement mods; check out the Antinomy Theme/Clear Mind use near the end! I also love that they snuck in the unreleased “First Move” theme from GX for O’Brien.
There’s a link in the Description for you to apply the mod to your Duel Links on PC, and I’m not sure if it’s cumulative with their other music mods, but if not, the ones he did for 5D’s and GX World are there, too. Also recommend their mods using the OCG Card Artwork!
The mysterious man Saiou appears before Manjoume to duel him. Saiou uses a very Tarot-style way of battle in which he sets his cards on his table, has Manjoume shuffle his deck, and foretells Manjoume’s fate according to the card he pulls–causing this to become a confrontation between Saiou’s belief in absolute fate and Manjoume’s belief in making his destiny for himself.
A bit over a month later, here’s my finalized subs for episode 61! After Fubuki’s episode last time ended with Judai isolated in his room, Manjoume tries to shake him out of this mental toll he’s taken, but to no avail. Then Manjoume finds himself facing Saiou as we’re more properly introduced to Ed’s manager and friend, as well as his belief that one can’t escape the destiny they’ve chosen for themselves–and before long, where he failed with Judai, Saiou succeeds with Manjoume in finding a new servant for his… Society of Light? It’s a nicely paced episode, imo; I liked how well Saiou was written here in establishing more about him and foreshadowing Manjoume’s defeat, and hey, Armed Dragon LV10 showed up!
Animation-fix-wise, there’s… actually nothing to report on, which hasn’t happened in a while. 😅 This was just mainly delayed as I wrapped up work on my 5D’s “Dub-Uncut” mini-project 2-4 weeks ago, then I focused on polishing the script for the last week or so. (EDIT, 2022: That was a lie–one fix I came back to apply under the cut!)
Enjoy! Should have this up on NAC in the next day or two. With this done, I’ll be prepping for 62 as we get Judai suddenly finding himself in Neo Space for some plot; we’ll, uh, see how this goes.
