“Yusei, I didn’t know you were burdened with those feelings. I’m sorry. I’m your friend. I should’ve noticed. But Yusei, I never thought for a second that you or your father ruined my life! So you don’t need to feel responsible! If I believed in destiny, it would only be about meeting you! Only about meeting you and Jack, two irreplaceable friends! Yusei, win for us!”
I don’t think the 5ds manga is appreciated nearly enough, even tough in some points (DUMB DUEL MECHANICS) it surpasses the anime, but here’s the main great thing about the manga, and yes, you’ve guessed, it’s Yusei.
Since the dragon cards in the mangá must be achieved through a ritual, with the winner deserving to wield the dragon, Yusei goes through this ritual where he’s supposed to defeat Stardust in one go. During the duel he sees Stardust’s memories of previous duelists who also tried to brutalize him in order to get his power. Upon seeing this, he does the most Yuseish thing to do, slows down and takes all of Stardust’s attack head on, instead of continuing and doig the same as the others
In other words, Yusei gets Stardust by being kind.
It’s really sad we didn’t get something similar in the anime. Also the reason he enters the grand prix is to defend his pride and that was also awesome.
This was your reminder to appreciate manga Yusei, he’s just the greatest, nicest, kindest person ever
i wanted to show this clip of ccapac apu being summoned as a reference for someone but honestly, who here didn’t look on the first time an earthbound god was summoned with awe and delight, because man. what a nice way to show the glory and power of your opponents for this season.
